A bit harsh but totally agree with your overall sentiment. While I personally love the ambient and atmospheric elements, I can't help but feel like they literally removed all the memorable riffs from Glow On. I want to like this so much but some of it just feels stale and boring as much as you can tell the band is trying to convey something more
Agreed with the other commenter that this review is a little harsh (not just to Turnstile but other acts like Basement and Balance & Composure), but this project does not land for all these reasons and more for me. Just feels like Glow On could have been an interesting departure but this feels exactly the same except more sterile. No new direction here, just sailing off into the sunset of Urban Outfitters vinyl-core.
I think I listened to GLOW ON once...haven't heard the new LP. Thanks for influencing me to want to listen to it even less. Have you heard of CLAMM? Listen to their new album, Serious Acts. Now, that's music!
Holy shit. Couldn’t put my finger on it while trying to listen this morning but this really nails it.

Paying for the sin of not taking note of Ceremony when they began branching out
