Hello everyone, I hope you are having a good month (I’m not!). Here is some more good and weird music coming your way. Stay blessed and highly favored my beautiful readers.
Kenny Larkin - Azimuth (1994)
Are you getting tired of Detroit techno yet? I hope not, this shit still slap tremedous.
FFO: Mike Banks, Ken Ishii, Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills
Under A Dying Sun - Unreleased Songs (1999-2003)
It is still melancholy emo kid weather, and here is some very melancholy emo kid music for those who love to mope around and walk in the snowfall.
FFO: Sunny Day Real Estate, Cursive, The Appleseed Cast, The Promise Ring
Magnet God - Six Inches Of Pipe (2017)
Gritty sludgy techno shit. If you like games with fucked up geometry and physics this should be up your alley.
FFO:" Autechre, DJ Speedsick, Squarepusher, Cruelty Squad
Lee Curtis Connection / Wild Palms - Two Track Mind (1997)
Fascinating EP from what seems to be two different strains of thought around the turn of the century in the UK—Lee Curtis doing the acid jazz/downtempo style that got popularized by Young Disciples while Wild Palms comes out on the second with future jungle. The intro track is the one though, bassline so good you can’t believe it hasn’t been sampled before.
FFO: Portishead, AIR, Wipeout, LTJ Bukem
Primitive Urges 1 (1997)
The first comp from Primitive, and the first of fifteen releases on their label with no artist IDs. Anyone who tries to stay anonymous should take lessons from these guys. Great tech house though.
FFO: Maurizio, Oval, Ricardo Villalobos, Jan Jelinek
Eric Lou Root - Don't Worry (1987)
Cosmic dub shit. If I was one of those weird holistic naturalist people I would definitely tell you this stuff would detoxify the bad vibes of the modern world.
FFO: Scientist, Lee “Scratch” Perry, James Ferraro, King Tubby
Candela - La Manquina (1986)
German…salsa? Hell, it was the 80s. Strange pairing of salsa, jazz fusion and the cheesy Eurorock style of the era. Very fun.
FFO: Dire Straits, Willie Colon, Frank Zappa, the Memphis Group
Miharu Koshi - Tutu (1983)
Top quality Harry Hosono. Most of these are bangers off the covers alone, search “Techno kayo” for more.
FFO: Yukihiro Takahashi, Taeko Ohnuki, Tomoko Aran, the Japanese music Youtube algorithm
Bill Nelson - Noise Candy (2002)
Saying weirdo psych music is proto-vaporwave might come off as kind of contrived, but trust me, this deserves the title. It’s 6 discs long and 121 tracks long, so good luck finding this in one piece. Like living in a neverending spiral of Geocities sites.
FFO: James Ferraro, 情報デスクVIRTUAL, Doopees, George Harrison if he had Pro Tools
Circulatory System - Circulatory System (2001)
I’m still sad about Will Cullen Hart. Him and Bill Doss, too fucking young. Long live Elephant 6.
FFO: Olivia Tremor Control, Of Montreal, Neutral Milk Hotel, the Apples in Stereo
Thank you for reading. I am very broke so if you have some spare change, you can bless me here:
Have a good one!
Goat shit as always
Bill Nelson from Bebop Deluxe?
